Teledyne Technologies – Best Managed Aerospace Company. Forbes magazine, known especially for publishing latest business and financial news, has selected Teledyne Technologies as the best managed aerospace company from the 26 industry groups which make up the Platinum 400 list. The selection criteria are financial performance, leadership, execution and innovation.
RF311 and RF331 Series
– Increased Bandwidth
from DC to 8 GHz
Teledyne Relays has
extended the frequency
range of its TO-5 product
line with the RF311 and
RF331 broadband relays.
The two versions, offered
with 5, 12 and 26 VDC
coils, are packaged in
the familiar hermetically
sealed TO5 can. They are
both 9.4 mm in diameter,
with the RF311 being 7.0 mm high, and the RF331
with lower operate power being 9.8 mm high.
Both relays have SPDT contacts with a bandwidth
of DC to 8.0GHz, with additional features of high
resistance to electrostatic discharge (ESD), a metal
enclosure for EMI shielding, a ground pin option to
improve case grounding and high isolation between
control and signal paths.
Fully RoHS compliant the relays are ideally suited
for high density Load Boards, ATE and Wireless applications
where the long life coupled with excellent
repeatability are prime design requirements.

172-3 Series – 2 GHz Relay
with 3 VDC Coil
Taking industry trend into consideration
that overall voltage
levels have gone down,
Teledyne Relays has added
a 3VDC coil to the 172 Series
relay to meet customer demand
for the additional operating
voltage.
The 3 volt coil is offered in
addition to the 5, 12 and 26 volt coils already available
on the 172 and 172D Relays.
|
|
Fully RoHS compliant, the hermetically sealed 172
relay has DPDT contacts with terminal pins spaced
on a 2.5 mm grid. The overall dimensions of 8.5 x
8.5 x 7.1 mm high and its inherently low intercontact
capacitance and contact circuit losses make the
172 ideal for high packaging density applications
requiring long life and repeatability such as ATE,
Attenuators and Test Instruments as well as the
high performance requirements found in Wireless,
Mobile Communications, Broadcast and HDTV
application.

ZD Series – Today’s Smartest Switching Solution
In critical missions besides electromechanical relays
and contactors solid state relays have found their
applications. The basic functionality is the same.
The control logic operates an output switch through
an isolated activation device. Instead of a relay coil
this activation unit is an optocoupling LED device or
a transformer activated by a mono stable oscillator
on its primary side. The isolation between control
and load circuit separates logic circuitry from output
voltage and transients and prevents ground loops
and noise.
Solid State Switches demonstrate superior
properties in lifetime, search current tolerance and
mechanical resistance against shock and vibration
and generate less noise than electro mechanical
devices.
For more than 30 years Teledyne Relays has
enhanced its Solid State Relays technology and
added intelligent features to protect the switching
device, the load and the system cabling against
overload or even a short circuit scenario.
Thus an external circuit breaker can be made
redundant because the solid state relay will switch
the load off acting as a super fast fuse. Another
smart feature allows feedback to the logic circuitry
reporting the interruption incident (trip) on a trip
status line.
|
|
The ZD series of DC relays has been designed
to combine solid state switching with smart
functionalities like overload protection and trip
status.
ZD20 overload protected relays can switch loads
up to 80VDC and 2 Amps. They qualify for the full
military and aviation environmental requirements
like temperature range (from -55 °C to +105 °C),
shock as per MIL STD 202, method 213 up to
1500 g and vibration as per MIL STD 202, method
204 up to 100 g. Parts can be tested to “W” or “T”
level screenings to pre-qualify their reliability.
The ZD24 series can handle 0.5 Amps and a
voltage of 80VDC and, in addition to its overload
protection, a trip status line can monitor overload
events.
The ZD series is available as through hole or
surface mount components. ZD solid state relays
have proven economic value and robustness in
applications where drive motors, solenoids, lamp
loads or heating elements have to be controlled.

For more than 40 years Teledyne Relays has
maintained reliability and lifetime data of its TO-5
and Centigrid® relays. While data of Aerospace
relays have been recorded to prove error rates far
below 10-6, commercial RF relays have received
repeatability testing of high frequency characteristic
over their specified 10 million cycle lifetime.
Last year Teledyne has also included its Coax
Switch product line in both, lifetime and repeatability
testing. Lifetime testing has been combined with
|
|
insertion loss repeatability measurements for the
SPDT CCR-33 series. For 10 million cycles deviation
was found as low as 0.05 dB in a frequency range
between DC and 6 GHz. In 50,000 intervals testing
with 200 sweeps per measurement point was
performed up to 20 GHz and repeatability turned
out to be better than .01 dB over the complete
range. For more information contact your Teledyne
