Teledyne Relays Announces Series SGRF Broadband Surface-Mount Relays

Teledyne Relays has introduced two families of ultraminiature broadband relays, featuring a practical surface-mount solution that simplifies circuit-board manufacturing and simplifies the inspection of the relay to board solder joints. As with Teledyne’s other relays, these are available fully RoHS compliant.

The relays, designated SGRF100 in the Teledyne CentiGrid enclosure and SGRF300 in a TO5 enclosure are formed lead versions of Teledyne’s GRF100 and GRF300 relays which feature Teledyne’s unique patented groundshield. The relays are hermetically sealed and have been designed to allow easy solder joint inspection and simple, easy removal and replacement using hand tools. The relays can be spray washed or fully submerged in water or cleaning solvents during manufacturing processes.

While the SGRF100 and SGRF300 typically use less board space than traditional relays, the internal design of both relays allows for higher frequency applications with improved RF parameters for reduced insertion loss, increased isolation and lower return loss. As with all Teledyne broadband relays, the SGRF100 and SGRF300 deliver a high number of switching cycles with excellent RF parameter repeatability over life.

Specified for applications in the DC to 6 GHz range, the standard relays are characterised by low power with even lower power requirements for the SGRF103 and SRF303 sensitive versions. A wide operating temperature range of –55°C to +85°C and good shock and vibration characteristics mean the relays are tough enough for remote, hand held or vehicle mounted applications.

The SGRF100 and SGRF300 are suited for high-speed digital switching applications, RF test and measurement equipment and high-volume digital and analogue semiconductor manufacturing test.
