Teledyne Relays Introduces Innovative Hockey-Puck Packaging With HIPpak Power Solid-State Relays

HAWTHORNE, Calif. (January 31, 2005) - Teledyne Relays today introduced an innovative alternative to conventional hockey-puck packaging with its new family of HIPpak power solid-state relays designed for high industrial performance.

Smaller and lighter than similar standard relays, HIPpak relays are available in four basic models that offer a variety of easy and quick connections, according to Antonio Gallegos, product-marketing engineer. For power wiring, HIPpak relays offer direct connection by wire or tips. For control wiring, HIPpak relays offer screw connections up to 50mm2 or removable spring terminals.

HIPpak relays offer removable touch-proof flaps, allow for the same screwdriver to be used for outputs and inputs, and provide for tightening on a metal baseplate instead of plastic. The relays are environmentally friendly because they use less potting resin. They are between 25% and 30% lighter than standard relays and measure only 1.14 in. (29mm) high.

The most versatile member of the HIPpak family, the Series SH, is designed to handle most types of loads.

Series SH relays are available in random turn-on, zero-cross turn-on and high-voltage models. The relays are designed for a very long operating life. Switching currents range from 12A to 125A while output voltage reaches 690 Vac (1,600V peak). The devices are equipped LED indicators for monitoring input status.

The relays can be used for plastic or rubber injection-molding machines, medical equipment, packaging machines, industrial ovens, soldering machines, textile machines, coffee machines and industrial or scene lighting.

The Series SH is rated over a temperature range of -55°C to +80°C (12A to 35A) and -40°C to +80°C (50A to 125A). The package measures 1.77 x 2.3 x 1.14 inches (45 x 58.5 x 29 mm) and weighs 2.82 ounces (80g).

Teledyne Relays introduces the innovative Series SH relay, part of the new HIPpak family of power solid-state relays offering a variety of easy and quick connections.
